State of the Manuscript - 10/16/2024

Welcome to my monthly update on the state of my manuscript for my debut novel, Magic & Murder in the Holler.

I finished my third draft of the novel yesterday! I need to make a few minor changes, because I changed some details in the process of writing this draft, and I need to go back to make sure everything's consistent. I'll go back and clear up a few things, but the bulk of the work revising and solidifying the story is done, and that's such a wonderful feeling.

My (somewhat final) word count is 117,323 words.

So, where do things stand now?

Once I make the changes I need to make, I'm going to read through the draft one more time, to make sure I don't have any glaring issues, like names changing midway through the book. Then, it's time to send it off to beta readers and an editor for review. This is the exciting, but also slightly terrifying part of the process.

While the book's with others to work on, I'm going to get started on outlining Book 2!
